Cardiac Coherence Timer
Five seconds in, five seconds out - six breaths a minute. The rhythm behind the popular "365" routine.
The 365 method
- 3 times a dayMorning, midday and early evening are the classic slots - the effect of one session fades after a few hours.
- 6 breaths a minuteFive seconds in, five seconds out. The timer paces it for you; keep each breath small and quiet.
- 5 minutesLong enough for the rhythm to settle in. Pick 5 min above and follow the circle.
Why six breaths a minute
Around five to six breaths a minute is the pace most studied for heart rate variability - breathing and heart rhythm fall into step, which many people experience as a settled, steady calm. The habit is especially well known in France as coherence cardiaque. Read more about coherent breathing and HRV, or find your own pace with the Breathing Pace Finder.
