코히런트(공명) 호흡: 분당 약 5.5회의 리듬

Coherent breathing - also called resonance breathing - means slowing your breath to about five to six breaths a minute, often around 5.5 seconds in and 5.5 seconds out. This slow, even pace is the one most studied for increasing heart-rate variability.

The rhythm5.5 · 5.5 · ≈ 11s

The pace matters more than perfection: anywhere near six breaths a minute, with no holds, is the idea. It suits almost everyone.

The rhythm

Rhythm: 5.5 · 5.5 (one cycle ≈ 11s)
Breathing phases in seconds
PhaseSeconds
Inhale5.5s
Exhale5.5s

About 5.5 in and 5.5 out - roughly 5 to 6 breaths a minute. Some people find their personal "resonance" pace slightly faster or slower.

How to do it

  1. Slow to about six breaths a minute
Roughly 5-6 seconds in and the same out.
  2. Keep it even and unforced
No holds; let the breath be smooth.
  3. Continue for several minutes
The effect builds with a little time.

Common uses

  • A calm, steady baseline practice.
  • HRV-oriented breathing.
  • A gentle everyday reset.

What the evidence suggests

Evidence: Moderate support

Breathing near the "resonance frequency" of about six breaths a minute is associated with the largest increases in heart-rate variability, and controlled studies report improvements in HRV and mood. Individual resonance frequencies vary.[1][2]

Safety

A gentle, hold-free technique that suits most people.

Beginner version

If 5.5 feels slow, start around 5 in and 5 out and ease toward a slower pace.

How BreathMate implements it

BreathMate can guide a coherent pace and, with Adaptive Breathing, help you find the slow rhythm your body settles into.
